Catch Up on 2022 Back from the Border Conversations

Women of Welcome works with trusted partners and local ministries to provide unique immersion trips to the southern border. We aim to take these educational trips several times a year.

Bri Stensrud, Women of Welcome Director, sat down this year with several ladies who have joined us on border trips to talk about why they went and what they’ve taken away from their experiences. Lean in and listen with us.

Whitney Lowe

This past June, Whitney Lowe joined us on one of our immersion trips at the border in Texas. We asked her three questions:

1)What made you say “yes” to the trip?

2)What has stuck with you?

3)What encouragement do you have for those on the outside looking in?

We talk about whole-life pro-life narratives, the surprising shame we discovered across the border, and the beautiful welcome none of us expected with a woman from Haiti. Listen in! Getting close will cost you something, but we promise it’s worth it!

Brittany Salmon

Brittany Salmon shares the story that stuck with her the most during her trip to the southern border. It happened while waiting on the international bridge to get back into the U.S. after an afternoon in Juarez, MX. Tune in to hear why she came with us, what she will never forget, and how she continues to pray for that group of people.

Jamie Ivey

In this Back from the Border conversation, Jamie Ivey shares how life-changing her first trip to the TX/MX border was and why it was important that she return and bring friends along with her. Why was her “yes” on the table for this hard topic? What were her biggest takeaways and stories she’s held close? Why is this subject important for the Church? All this and more! Tune into this quick but helpful conversation
