Women of Welcome

Women of Welcome is a community dedicated to diving into the whole of scripture to understand God’s heart for the immigrant and refugee. We believe God calls us to a deep love for the vulnerable, the marginalized, and the forgotten. Together we’re on a journey to understand biblical hospitality in an authentic way.

The Greek word for hospitality is philoxenia; which literally means “the love of strangers”. Our mission is to follow Christ’s example of love, invitation, and generosity, especially to those who are pushed to the margins. Jesus went looking for these forgotten and underserved people, intentionally bringing them back into relationship and community, for God’s glory. We seek to do the same.

What Does the Bible Say About Immigration?

We hope our Connect Groups are safe and welcoming spaces for learning and growing alongside other women. We have a few guidelines that are helpful in cultivating this welcoming environment:

Listen FirstGroup members have unique experiences, backgrounds, political affiliations, and Christian traditions. Always assume the best intentions in others and listen to find common ground.

Respect One AnotherConstructive disagreement is acceptable but no one should feel judged for their point of view. Respect people’s journeys and trust the Holy Spirit to lead them into all truth in His timing. Feel free to offer a different perspective, but do so in humility and love.

Remain NonpartisanDiscussing immigration necessitates discussing policies and practices, since these things affect immigrants. However, we do not promote or insult/demean political parties or their members/candidates. Everyone who wants to learn more about God’s heart for the sojourner should feel welcome, regardless of their political affiliation.

Maintain PrivacyIn order to create an environment that is safe for open and honest participation, trust is non-negotiable. Members should feel confident that nothing they share will be repeated outside of the group without their permission.

We ask that all group hosts and members acknowledge that they will abide by these guidelines when they sign up.
