In just a few days, we’ve witnessed swift and unsettling policy shifts affecting unaccompanied migrant children. First, funding for their legal services was halted—then restored after public outcry. Now, reports indicate plans to fast-track removal proceedings for these children, many of whom have no legal support and are at risk of trafficking and exploitation.
This is why your voice matters. When we speak up, we remind our leaders that protecting vulnerable children is not optional—it’s essential. The work isn’t over, and we must continue to advocate for their safety and rights. Let’s keep going.
Here are a few resources to help you stay informed and know how to use your voice at this crucial time when we can speak for those who cannot speak for themselves:
- Unchecked and unmonitored systems can lead to incredible trauma and child abuse. We saw this during the zero-tolerance policy in 2017 when children were separated from their parents and detained in conditions so egregious there was a national outcry on their behalf. We shared these stories in our While In Our Care series. Hear these stories and be reminded how important your voice is today.
- We hosted a community call with our friends from Kids in Need of Defense to hear more about what all these changes mean and how we can advocate for vulnerable children. Watch the call with Jennifer Podkul, Chief of Global Policy and Advocacy for KIND here:
- We need to let our representatives know that Christians in this nation believe prioritizing safeguards and legal representation for unaccompanied children should be a priority! We’ve made it easy with this simple form. Let’s be bold and brave and use our voices, ladies!
